Oh Dear!

On Thursday (either 8th or 1st) a vehicle parked in Gorsecover Road was badly scratched by person(s) unknown.  This happened between 08.30 and 10.30 and if it was on the 1st, Mums taking their children to school might have seen something.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact the Police on 0845 4567000.

There is also someone riding some sort of quad bike, along the road and bridle path in Church Road, likewise a motor bike along the Sea Wall and a 'monkey bike' along Beach Road.  This is illegal and the noise causes much distress to nearby residents. Police have been informed.

Cigarettes anyone!!

2 times in the last fortnight our local shop in Severn Beach has been broken into by forcing open a rear door. Cigarettes have been taken both times, and the last time booze also. At the last breakin on Monday 5th April at 01.44, 3 youths were seen to enter the store, one carrying a black bin,  cigarettes from behind the counter were loaded into the bin, whilst others tried to enter the office. Entry was gained into the back store room and further stock removed, after failing to open the safe. They then left via the fire door, driving off towards Almondsbury - vehicle was then lost to sight but found 10mins later in Winterbourne when police attempted to stop the vehicle, unfortunately the vehicle rammed the police car and made off.

Any information at all regarding these incidents could you please contact the Police on 0845 4567000

Minutes of the NHW meeting held on 15th March 2010
Due to the bad weather this was the first meeting since November, and many members were unable to attend. Things have been pretty quiet in Severn Beach, with no reports of crime from NHW HQ. A member raised the problem with a coach parked in Gorsecover Road, query if blocking view, however it belongs to a resident and is not breaking any parking rules. Drugs still are a problem in our area, but some of the youths have migrated to Pilning Telephone Exchange. Rubbish etc., is being thrown off the Marlwood coaches as they go to school, some pupils have been reported and ticked off. A man who sells cars at the end of Beach Road, has had problems with cars being keyed, residents are asked to keep a look out. There have been a few doorstep callers in the evening, and one member asked them not to call after dark as many elderly residents get alarmed. There has been reports of a very noisy motorcycle around. The next meeting will be on Monday 10th May, at 7.30p.m., at which out new Beat Officer hopes to attend. Meetings are held in Ableton Court, and all are welcome to attend.

Won a holiday!
There is a spate of funny phone calls lately. One being you have won a 'free' holiday in Florida. Remember nothing in this life is free, except maybe the air you breath!!  There are also calls coming both on home phones and mobiles asking if you are in debt, if so they can help.  I haven't listened to all of it, but apparently there is a number you can dial if you wish to stop them calling. DO NOT, you never know what it will lead onto!  Likewise a reminder - BANKS DO NOT REQUEST YOUR DETAILS IN AN E-MAIL. Looking through my spam e-mails, I notice I must have an account in every bank in the country, some I have never heard of,(?Egg?), having only had one bank since married I knew something was wrong.
