WARNING

Distraction type burglaries are taking place over South Gloucestershire. Elderly people are being targetted by people posing as representatives from one of the Utility Companies (usually the Water Board).  They enter pretending to be looking for a leak or something, one person distracts the householder whilst the other takes anything of value he (or she) can find.  DO NOT LET ANYONE IN WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING THEIR IDENTIFICATION CARD.  Telephone the Police if they seem wrong, asking the message to be tagged NHW D50081007.

IF IN DOUBT   -   KEEP THEM OUT!

SBNW AGM Minutes from 17 Sep 2007 Meeting

Severn Beach Neighbourhood Watch
Minutes A G M 17th September 2007

Letters were received from Severn Beach School reassuring Ableton Court residents that all parents had been requested not to use or block the car park.

An invitation was received to the N W C meeting at the BAWA on 27th September2007

Free checks are being offered by the Fire Service to members homes and an offer of a talk on

Fire safety at one of our meetings - leaflets available.

Crime figures are to be more localised in future, Police reported that most petty crimes are stolen cars, break-ins and attempted break-ins from cars and garden sheds a couple of burglaries and a couple of assaults, a man was arrested in Shaft Road and charged with Possession and a bicycle were stolen.

The 30mph sign in Ableton Road is not working and signs are needed to warn people of the danger of the mud flats. Member reported that a tell call to Streetcare following the recent heavy rain resulted in the three blocked drains being cleared in ten days.

The Parish Information Day was well supported and displays laid out by all the organisations but attendance was disappointing.

New member has had an unfortunate start with her husband’s car being damaged and two intruders had to be chased out of her garden, we hope this is just bad luck and that you will settle here in Severn Beach safely and are happy.

All members are urged to report any incident to the Police and ask for log number, police are trying to improve feedback

Member wished to thank police for their prompt response following an attempted break-in.
