SBNW Last Meeting Minutes [18 June 2007]

Severn Beach Neighbourhood Watch
Minutes                                                                                                     18th June 2007

Crimewatch figures have been distorted due to boundary changes so do not represent the true picture for our area.

Ableton Court residents voiced their concerns about the use of their carpark by parents during the school run, morning and afternoon in term time, they emphasised there was no problem with the children but there have been a couple of instances of rudeness by parents. It was agreed to write to Merlin Housing and Severn Beach School to see if a solution can be found

The Pilning Carnival was a success with just a couple of minor incidents during the evening, although our police were kept busy with an incident at Western Approaches and later a
breaking at the Rugby Club where prompt attendance ensured the culprits were caught.

Horsewatch reported tacks have been stolen from stables in the area.

Information about what is going on in our courts that used to be published in the local papers is now subject to data protection so it was suggested we write to the Evening Post and Gazettee to see if there is any way we can be kept informed of local prosecutions.

There have been complaints of Motor Bike being riden on the Binn wall and of youths lighting fires near the shrubbery in the area of the pumping station.  There were a number of vehicles damaged in Beach Road, Beach Avenue and Osborne Road on the same night in April and an attempted breaking at 4 Ableton Lane during the Bank Holiday weekend.  The black van seen parked in the area belongs to someone local whose driveway is too small.

Large lorries are getting lost in Severn Beach looking for Western Approaches, it was suggested we contact John Cox of the Traffic Dept S G D C   Despite a recent road check by police at Easter Compton and Hallen  weight limits are being ignored and the speed sign in Ableton Lane is not working.

We are advised never to buy goods from Vans or doorstep salesmen, goods are being bought from warehouses and sold around the country which do not have any guarantee of quality.

SBNW Chair wishes to hand over the reins of Co ordinator and "Secretary" would quite happy to let someone else take over as Secretary  If any member would like to take these positions on let us know at the next meeting.    Keep watching and enjoy the remainder of the summer.

Next meeting AGM  Monday 17th September 2007

Warning
On the night 22 - 23rd June in Gorse Cover Road a thief entered a house via the rear door.  As well as a laptop, watch and cash, car keys were taken which also meant the car was stolen.  Please check all your doors at night, and security mark all property. If you have a very expensive car, have you thought about a 'Tracker' system. I would also remind you all to remove all valuables from your car overnight, and not to leave anything of value in the Glove Box.

Apologies everyone, I had a 'silver moment', Old Aust Road is of course in Almondsbury NHW, and not in Pilning!
