Appeal to trace stolen truck **Model** (Severn Beach)
Appeal to trace stolen truck **Model** (Severn Beach)
ADDED: 7/02/2007 12:49

The truck has four wheels and is petrol driven. The shell of the truck was not stolen.

Police are appealing for information after a petrol "monster truck" was stolen from a garage in the Seven Beach area.

Offenders gained access into the garage in Ableton Lane by forcing the door sometime between 4pm on January 28 and 7am on January 29.

A petrol monster truck as well as a lawn mower and tools were stolen.

The owner is desperately keen to have the monster truck returned which was stolen without the body that is featured in a photograph available from the force website www.avonandsomerset.police.uk

Anyone who has been offered the truck for sale or has any information about the burglary should call police on 0845 4567000.

Severn Wonders Community Events at Severn Beach

South Gloucestershire Council has recently begun progressing proposals for a new Local Nature Reserve at Severn Beach.

To raise awareness of the proposal for a new local nature reserve, a series of community Severn Wonders Events has been arranged for Jan - March 2007.

1) Birds and the importance of the saltmarsh

Date: Sunday 28th January 2007

Time: 10am start

Location: Severn Beach Sea Wall (End of Station Road)

Join Rupert Higgins and learn more about the range of birds using the Severn Estuary, their habitats and conservation needs; and the specific nature of saltmarsh, how plants cope with a harsh environment; and management and threats facing saltmarsh.

The walk will start with a look at un-grazed marsh at Severn Beach, followed by a walk to the grazed marsh at New Passage to see the differences.

Grazed Saltmarsh Ungrazed Saltmarsh

Participants will have the chance to work in groups to record common species present, consider the stresses on the salt marsh, and consider its value as a habitat for plants animals.

FLOOD ALERT

A FLOOD WATCH has been issued for today's (Saturday 20th January,2007) evening tide, which will be at approximately 20.30 hrs.The High Tides will continue until Wednesday and I ask that you pay attention to the state of the Wind.  If it is strong and blowing from the West, North West then problems could arise. If you wish to check, telephone the Environment Agency Hotline on 08459881188 followed by quick dial number 0524133. Remember the flood defences should hold back any water that overtops, but residents living near Pippetts Court, The Island and Rustic Site should be aware.
