Distraction Burglaries
Message Number D12 120107
Sent by Melanie Andrews, NHW Administrator

This message is being sent to make you aware that there has been several Distraction Burglaries in South Gloucestershire this week.

These have occurred in the Staple Hill Sector of our District but the reason that I am sending this message to you all is that they have all involved the same offenders using the same vehicle so they are therefore able to travel across our area.

The offenders have gained access to victims’ homes by pretending to be officials checking water pressure but they could use any guise to gain entry. One of the offenders will distract the victim whilst the other searches the home. A considerable amount of money was stolen from the home of an elderly victim in Kingswood.

There have been up to three offenders involved and they have been described as white males, Irish accents, aged in their twenties, one with dark slicked back hair. One of them continuously referred to the victim as ‘Boss’.

The vehicle that has been used is an Orangey Red Peugeot 406 with the registration number S749 NLU.

If you see this vehicle or anyone acting suspiciously, please do not approach them yourselves but call 999 and ask for the call to be logged NHW and the message number D12 120107.

Please ensure this message is distributed amongst members as soon as possible.

Are you sure they are from the Water Board?

3 offenders, white males with Irish accent, in their 20's, one with slicked back black hair, and one who continually calls the victim 'Boss', are going around posing as Water Board Officials.  They enter a house under the pretext something being wrong with the water supply and whilst the resident is distracted, one of them hunts around and steals money etc. The vehicle used by them is a Orangy Red Peugeot 406, reg. no. S749 NLU.  If approached or vehicle seen, please ring 999 and quote NHW message number D12 120107. REMEMBER AT ALL TIMES TO ASK FOR IDENTIFICATION OF ANY CALLER, BONE-FIDE  WORKERS WILL NOT MIND. IF IN DOUBT, DO NOT LET THEM IN AND CALL THE POLICE.

Safer / Stronger group

`Neighbourhood Policing` has arrived on Severnside!

This has produced a series of positive changes to the way the community and their police family work together.

We are writing to inform you of the new Stronger /Safer Group that we are currently setting up in your area.

A Stronger/ Safer Group is a multi agency, problem solving group consisting of various representatives of the community, including parish councillors, neighbourhood watch ,  Police,  local  authority and most importantly,  members of the public.

Their function is to work alongside existing statutory bodies and improve the delivery of Police services and the quality of life for all the residents, workers and visitors to the ward areas of Almondsbury, Pilning and Severn Beach.

The members will be brought together on a regular basis to identify and deal with the main concerns of the local community. Each representative will bring different skills and knowledge to the group, helping towards a more positive outcome. The meeting will be open to any interested person.

We hope that by joint understanding and partnership activities, we can bring further improvements for the whole of Severnside.

If you are interested in getting involved with this project or would like further information please contact

PCSO Kirsty Flicker or PC Daryl Lodge on 0117 9454835.
