Severn Beach NW - 11 September 2006 Minutes
SEVERN BEACH NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
11th September 2006

Crime figures for the July/August period were twelve incidents for  Severn Beach & Pilning.  Thefts at Mall are quite high but have a good detection rate.

Neighbourhood Policing begins next August. The new PCSO Kirsty has started work in our area and works opposite shifts to Daryl.

The South Glos. Neighbourhood Watch News was sent  passed around.

The district annual meeting of the NW will be held at the BAWA club in October

South Glos have put notices on trees with preservation orders in Gorse Cover Road.

Bags distributed for clothing collections are not always for charity. Look for small print.

The speed limit for Green Lane is being considered, please let South Glos. Highways Dept know your views and what speed you would like to see.

A Gang of youths caused nuisance outside the Estate Agents last Friday
and a smart young girl has been asking for a lift to Burnham and other places, she does not ask for money buts accepts it if offered, members are advised to refer her to the police station. The police have a scheme of ‘Conduct money’ where anyone in an emergency situation can get funds through a Police/Relative scheme.

Motor bikes being driven carelessly, cars parked badly and general speeding are on going nuisances.

Streetcare did a good job in dealing with a broken manhole cover at Ableton Court

Flooding outside of Smiles store to be sorted quite soon and litter bins to be re sited.

There were no problems with September high tides and the next high tides are in October.

A question arose about the WASP scooters and private disabled vehicles. Whilst these are usually driven on the pavement, where they can be driven on the road is a grey area.

Daryl holds a surgery in the Post Office for anyone who wants to talk about local policing issues. Details in the Post Office window

The next meeting will  be the AGM on 13th November 2006

Travellers Update at Western Approches

Quick update the "Travellers" that occupied Western Approaches behind the Royal Mail have been moved on.  After this they attempted to break in to a field just past the traffic lights, just as you enter WA.

Looks like a bit of luck befell them as a caravan grounded and they could not gain access and this gave the Police time to attend and move them on.

We don’t know where they have gone (not far probably) but as always please be extra vigilant and don’t get any work done such having your hedges cut etc. Remember this rubbish only ends in lay-bys and the fields they occupy.  If they got no work they will go away.

Thumbs up to the Police, Well Done. For such prompt action.
