Emails proclaiming huge winnings
Wariness is the right approach. Emails proclaiming huge winnings or other financial gains are common - but are almost certain to be from fraudsters trying to steal either victims' money or their identity.

New research shows that millions of consumers are leaving themselves open to internet-based fraud because they are too trusting.

According to Government-backed anti-fraud campaign Get Safe Online, over 60 per cent of consumers have received suspicious e-mails, while more than a third - about 11 million people - have been sent bogus e-mails asking for their bank details, a practice known as phishing.

Beryl C
Members will be sorry to hear that our secretary, Beryl Chamberlain, fell out of her loft on Thursday. After spending the night under observation in hospital, I am pleased to tell you that she is now back home. Battered and bruised, but fortunately no broken bones. Our best wishes go to her for a speedy recovery, but please no more loft climbing!!!
