CLOSURE OF SEVERN ROAD
The closure of Severn Road at Blaise Railway Bridge, Hallen is due to start on May 5th for 18 weeks. For all of us who use it to get to Henbury, Westbury-on-Trym etc., will have to go via Easter Compton, Cribbs to Old Crow roundabout (see they have copied the Severn Beach boat) and access Henbury or W-o-T from there. Officers from SGC will be available to answer questions and hear comments from residents and users of that road at The Hallen Centre, Tuesday 21st April, 2009 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

WARNING
Now the weather has warmed up and the grass is growing, people are opening up their garages and getting the lawn mower out to start cutting the grass.  Be aware that people walking by can clock what you have in your garage if you leave the door open, and may come back later on and take what they fancy.  Have a good lock on your garage and alarm it if possible. Always shut it up once you have got your car, lawnmower or tools out and lock it again if you are not in view of it. Don't forget to report anything suspicious either to me, on 01454 632840 or the police.  I can alert residents via this web-site or through our members. Doing this on Sunday 15th March, I realise it must be warmer than I thought as the ice-cream van has just sounded its chimes!!

Severn Beach Neighbourhood Watch Minutes - 9th March 2009
Crime figures for the Severnside Beat (including Hallen, Easter Compton and Almondsbury)for the year 2008/9  255 altogether

Two plastic waste bins sited in Severn Beach Village Hall Car Park have been removed, a member has written to Steve Webb to see if he can help in getting them replaced, also there is a problem with insurance since the previous bins were set on fire.

The Kebab van currently situated in the Cross Hands car park is shortly to be re-sited in the Severn Beach Village Hall car park.

There have been various comments about the Putcher Sculpture at the entrance of Western Approaches, and we are told that it is completed.

The new beat officer Louis Thomas is hoping to attend the next meeting, duties permitting.

High tides are expected on Wed/Thurs/Friday 11th/12th/13th March

The on going saga of double yellow lines -  We are told they are due to be redefined at some time in the future.

Neighbourhood Watch signs are wanted in the Gorse Cover Road area.

Rubbish is being dumped on Bank Road, Pilning at the end of Shaft Road in Severn Beach and in the Philblack and Hallen area

The foreshore clean up team meet on the last Friday of every month, weather permitting from 10 to11am, the next area to be cleared is from the Shaft to New Passage.

Bikes and vans are back at Western Approaches (ring 08454 567000) when you see or hear them.

School children tipped up all the bins in Beach Road last Thursday
Part of the wooden fence is broken at  the top end of Gorse Cover Road

The dates of the next four meetings have been set so that they can be given to The Inview editor in time for their deadline for publication.

The next meeting will be on Monday 18th May 2009

Next meeting
Our next meeting is on Monday 9th March 2009 in Ableton Court, beginning at 7.30pm.  We have been fortunate in that the New Neighbourhood Watch Administrator, Bridget Whittle, will be attending. Not sure if our new Beat Manager, Louise Thomas will be there as it clashes with the Police Surgery at the Post Office in the morning, but I am sure she will meet us all soon. All welcome.

Hello and welcome
Filton Neighbourhood Policing area (of which we are part) has a new Inspector, he is Bob Evely and has a wealth of experience spanning some 25 years. Our new Community Beat Manager is PC Louise Thomas together with our PCSO Chris Baker, both will be looking after all of Daryl's old beat.  Another change is that we welcome Bridget Whittle who has taken over as Neighbourhood Watch Administrator.  We look forward to meeting all the new faces in the future.

We believe there is no point in reinventing the wheel.

So rather than duplicating the already quality advice that is already available on crime reduction techniques we have provided a link to the Avon & Somerset Police website that has comprehensive section on this subject.
