Gloria
I was saddened to hear of the death of one of the original members of Severn Beach Neighbourhood Watch - Gloria Phipps. She was a lovely lady, driving around in her beloved 'Alice', raising funds for good causes, always helping out and a true friend to many. She will be sorely missed, and my condolences go to her family. Thank you Gloria for all you have done and rest peacefully now with your beloved Ken.

Watch out their is a Helicopter about!
Wednesday 17th September, motor cycles were seized from 4 males who were seen riding mini-mopeds on Farm Lane near the motorway overbridge. For anybody wondering why the Police Helicopter landed in a field at the rear of DHL, it was because the youths were hiding from police and the helicopter found them. They were reported for the offences and the bikes will be crushed.

Severn Beach Neighbourhood Watch Minutes A G M 8th September 2008
Suggestions were asked for puplicity for Neighbourhood Watch as we need more residents to be aware. A letter or Poster campaign - Pete Thomas to be approached to see if information can be delivered with the Inview.

The ditch on the Sea wall under the bridge from the green to the wall is blocked with brambles and rubbish, the Parish Council to be informed.

No one turned up for the Safer Stronger Group meeting so transport issues were not dealt with, A request has been made for an earlier bus than 10.15am as this is too late for people wanting to go out for the day.

A group of youths roaming with paint ball guns caused some damage around the station area in July and the train was attacked by a group of youths in August, both incidents were reported to police. There have been incidents of noise and stone throwing. Youths on mopeds and motor bikes are still causing problems in the area and police are aware.

An intruder was seen climbing over a fence at the back of houses in School Way but ran off when confronted, a lad on a push bike was seen riding dangerously in Ableton Lane.

And a fire was left burning on the area near the Binn Wall, N W member called the fire brigade.

The residents meeting in Stride Close was a private one to discuss problems at the Quadrills and Neighbourhood Watch was not involved

Daryl reported a spate of petty crime involving cars and burglaries from outhouses and sheds both in Severn Beach and New Passage areas.

An official inquiry is to be launched re the Hayes private hospital in Pilning to discover why a patient was referred there who subsequently absconded and attacked a 14 year old girl.

The next meeting will be on NOVEMBER 10th 2008
